Graduation in Boulder, Colorado was nothing short of spectacular. The University of Colorado Boulder congratulated tens of thousands of now-alumini from completing their undergraduate collegiate career this year.
This years round of graduates included a handful of individuals that I am so proud of and I am so blessed to call my peers, friends, supporters, and personal cheerleaders. I am even proud of those individuals that I do not even know, as graduating from college is an EXCEPTIONAL accomplishment.
Finding somewhere to where to the graduation was semi-difficult, but I knew the weather was warm and something airy would be wise. In addition, since graduation attire is generally formal, I figured that a dress of some sort would be appropriate for the occassion. I wanted to make sure that the dress was somewhat formal, meaning that the dress was something of a neutral color.
Black dresses are essential for everyone’s wardrobe, as they are versatile, slimming, timeless, flattering, ageless, and are great for any occasion of anything formality. Black dresses are great for more than funerals!
Taking account the weather and my desire to wear a black flowy dress, I narrowed my options down to a few options. I wanted to be comfortable, but I also wanted my black dress to correlate with Summer attire. Summer inspires me to begin wearing pieces of clothing that are more girly, feminine and flirty. The only girly, flirty, black dress that I had NEVER worn before was a black slip dress, with lace detailing.
I love, love, love this dress and have been looking for an occassion to finally show her off in public.
While the lace detailing may have been considered too informal, or maybe too flirty, the feminine detailing of the lace did not make the dress any less appropriate for the graduation ceremony. However, the lace detailing allowed for the dress to have a personality. The lace detailing is a valueable feature of the dress, preventing the dress from being just another basic slip dress and allowed the dress to exude a playful vibe.
Slip dresses are one of my favorite trends, especially for the summer. They are very effortless, chic, and great for the summer.
To complete my look, while jewelry was not included in the outfit, I styled my hair in a half-up pony, which is one of my favorite hairstyles to date. The half-up pony not only kept my hair out of my face, but added another element to an otherwise simplistic outfit.
My shoes, which are not pictured, are a pair of ballet, pointed-toe, lace up sandals. These sandals are of course black, as well.
Black was the theme of the outfit – what is new?

Another amazing part of graduation weekend was reuniting with some of my best friends that I had moved away from Boulder, who I have not seen in a few years. While we were miles apart, our friendships stayed strong and nothing feels better than reuniting with some of your best friends that you have not seen in a while.
In addition, my graduating pals had their families in town, which I LOVED. I love my friends families, as I often consider their families a second, or third, family to me.
Gathering such a wonderful group of supportive individuals into one town, in order to celebrate and commemorate an important event is always very exciting and a very joyous moment.
My best friend Leslie (the graduate) and I finally got to reunite with one of my BESTEST friends and biggest inspirations. He is the definition of resident badass and we love him so much! We finally reunited after five years of being apart – and, nothing changed. Our love for each other is undying and will never be anything less than pure.
The main graduation event, or the graduation party, took place at a beautiful Air B&B very close to the mountains, as well as close to the landmark, Pearl Street Mall.
The decorations, the food, the beer, and the air b&b was nothing less than exceptional.
In particular, the food was displayed in such an aesthetically pleasing way, and the taste of the food was just as pleasing as the aesthetically pleasing display.
The desert was beyond delicious and so beautiful to look at. There was no shortage of sweets, mostly cupcakes and cake.
How can you not include just a little bit of CU Boulder decor to remind and honor the university that you are graduating from? SKO BUFFS.
The CU Buff decore, as well as the “congrats grad” decor, was quite subtle and there was minimal CU Buff logo kitchen supplies, such as cups, plates, and napkins.
The theme of the decor, or interior decoration, for the party focused much more on other elements and was much more sophisticated and modern. However, to engage in graduation spirit, it was important to incorporate even the slightest bit of cheesy graduation decor to place strategically within the house.
The design of the outdoor space of the Air B&B was very aesthetically pleasing and so beautiful! The outdoor lounging furniture was not only functional for multiple individuals to utilize, but was decorated very nicely.
My favorite part about the outdoor space was the beers, which were carefully placed in buckets and held a variety of our favorite brews.
Our ice buckets held Coronas, Blue Moons, and Coors Banquets, which all satisfied my taste buds.
Graduation weekend and the festivities that followed as a result of graduation were some of my best, proudest, and happiest moments of my entire year thus far.
I had so many things to be so happy, grateful, proud of, leaving me feeling very emotional, as I experienced so many emotions realizing that my best friends had finally achieved a goal that not many individuals get to experience.
It was a great day to be a CU Buff.
Because, I got to celebrate good times, c’mon.
