In My Perfect World

If you could construct your ideal world, what would it be like? What is your perfect world?

With all the terror and chaos occurring within the world, this theme of creating the most perfect haven has continuously made its way into people’s conversations, as everyone chimes in an attempt to insert their unique opinion and insight on how the world can get two steps closer to being “perfect.”

If you had all the power in the world, what would you do? What would make you happy? What is your utopia?

It is a hard concept to wrap your head around since perfection is an unattainable quality. It’s one of those questions that makes you think.

I complain a lot, which is a habit I need to completely kick out the window since in ’95. My incessant complaining had me thinking what it would take for me to not nitpick my reality, or find something to complain about.

In high school, I read this Tweet that stated, “People who complain more live longer,” Let’s just say, I took it to heart and ran with it. Oops…don’t trust everything you read on the Internet.

In my utopia, or my perfect world, I would own a bunny. One that was very similar to my last bunny, Tubz. I would want more clothes and shoes, which is very superficial.

In my perfect world, there would be no violent conflict, but better conflict resolution strategies. This utopia would focus on the integration and unity of our world. Of course. along with it, no one would be hungry and there would be homes above everyone’s head.

World peace, right?

I would want more rainbows, the existence of unicorns, no animal cruelty, more smiles, much more kindness, more art, more nature, less societal standards, easier accessibility to opportunities for all, health care for everyone, higher minimum wage, free, or affordable, education, cheaper housing, etc.

This sounds very cliché and probably a bit silly. Honestly, because I am not too sure how to answer this question.

Coming from a college kid’s perspective, I have no idea what a “perfect world” would be like. To a certain extent, the world needs some chaos, in order to evolve, grow and revolutionize.

As I sit here thinking about all the small, or even enormous, issues that I would change about the world, or simply irritate me, I also sit here wondering if there is ever a way to create a perfect utopian, or if these changes that I stand by would truly solve some of the problems, issues, and inconveniences I find myself facing.

Many of the things that our society is currently fighting for, including equal rights, world peace, environmental sustainability, gun violence, bullying, animal cruelty, mental illness, etc., are all issues that I spend a lot of time thinking about. But, will one person’s idea of a solution to that problem, actually result in a solution for all these solutions?

The answer to that question is “no,” but is there really one right answer about how to solve all the problems of the world, including everyone’s personal problems that currently live on this Earth.

We always joke about how “in a perfect world” bad things would not happen, or things could just go our way without having to do anything. To a certain extent, in a perfect world, every single human being would be able to do exactly what their hearts desired and get what they wanted, without having to lift a finger. We conceptualize that if we got everything that we so desired that we would all be eternally happy, and as a result, there would be no problems.

But, these days, everyone seems to have a problem.

In a world where everything we pleased is too attainable, eternal happiness and the diminishment of problems would not occur. Instead, eternal chaos and greed would run rampant. Beyond that, laziness would become a legitimate health issue, in this utopian world.

I have idealized and even resented other people’s realities, wishing I was handed the same circumstances that I witnessed them experiencing. I literally have spent many years obsessing over various people’s  reality, circumstances, and life, constantly telling myself that if I was them and had their life that my life would be perfect.

It is easy to envy a person’s life, or their lifestyles. It is even easier to resent a person for their life, circumstances, opportunities, vacations, money, etc., due to our perception of their life. This leads to a dangerous habit, as you begin playing a victim card, instead of actively attempting to solve problems.

There is no actual guarantee that if you were someone else, or lived their life, that your life would be any easier, or better.

Chaos would result from a utopia, where every single human being could have anything they wanted and do whatever they want.

Our problems, while they are not good per say, allow us to unite and come together with others who may share the same belief. Our problems are also some of the only things in our world that people actually pay attention to, because for some reason people crave problems. Problems keep people aware, conscious, growing, maturing, learning, experimenting, and open-minded.

Human beings may have just been put on this Earth to create problems, or to seek out problems. It is just in our nature!

Our society focuses so intently on the problems that are occurring currently. This can be viewed as a bad thing, but reporting on and addressing problems or mishaps within a society reminds people that there are still so many ways that our world could improve. So, people are able to come together and exert some passion towards fighting to solve, or bring change, towards some of the issues that our society faces.

Problems also allow for the birth of new ideas, new perspectives, and new beliefs. Addressing problems must be followed up with finding solutions to these problems, or attempting to discover a solution that benefits, or assists, the majority of those experiencing a problem first-hand.  Finding a solution brings individuals together, and these individuals all have different beliefs, perspectives, and ways of thinking and problem-solving. With the utilization of more than one individual, the potential to find a uniquely formulated solution from individuals of different backgrounds, beliefs, morals and experiences, is infinite.

There is so much right with the world, but there is also so much wrong in the world.

If I could be a superhero, I would wear a cape and help everyone overcome their problems. But, unfortunately, the extent in which I would like to resolve everyone’s problems is simply requires more than a cape.

My current reality is somewhat utopian.

I would rather choose to be happy and to live my life out than live in a world that would produce absolute chaos, and that would produce and exhibit extremely undisreable results.

I have everything I ever wanted and more right in front of me. I am currently living in a utopia!

The only things I would actively like to change about my life circumstances is having to pay so much money to attend college, in which I would wish for affordable education. I would ask for one more thing, which would be to own a pet bunny.

The idea of perfect is a concept that is impossible to grasp, let along imagine. I do not know what “perfect” would even be like, and I cannot even conceptualize this far-fetched idea. So, I choose to believe that the world I was born into and the life that I have to be (almost) perfect, mostly because I do not know any other life, nor have I ever lived someone else’s life.

What is your idea of a utopian world? What would your utopia be like?

The Kylie Jenner Pregnancy Phenomenon

It is about that time we address the Kylie Jenner pregnancy phenomenon, as she left us hanging and out-of-the-loop for about nine months.

For months, society was questioning the ultimate question of the 2018 – whether or not Kylie Jenner, the make-up mogul, was pregnant or not? Papparazzi shots began surfacing hinting at a possible baby bump at every opportunity possible. Cue photoshoppers beginning to leak retouched photographs of Jenner’s pregnancy now.

The public barely even knew for sure whether or not Jenner and Travis Scott were even still together, as cheating rumors and breaking-up rumors began surfacing the web and magazines everywhere.

The public desperately searched and dug for answers, as her family members and close friends remained hush about the matter.

To alleviate matters and suspicions, the family informed the public about Kim’s recent pregnancy, via surrogate, and Khloé’s pregnancy news, which left people wondering exactly where Kylie was to either deny or confirm the news.

While the public could only speculate, it seemed that Kim’s pregnancy, Kylie’s pregnancy and Khloé’s pregnancy were only a few weeks apart, making their due dates suspciously close to each other. The confirmation of both Kim and Khloé”s pregnancy only fueled the flame for the public to assume that Jenner was indeed pregnant with Travis Scott’s child.

After months of unanswered, the question of the century was finally answered when Jenner released a heartfelt YouTube video that featured footage of Jenner’s whereabouts and activities over the course of her pregnancy.

“To Our Daughter” was the name of the 11 minutes and 33 second video, recapping all of the monumental moments of Jenner’s pregnancy.

The heartfelt video showed clips throughout her pregnancy, often featuring her close friend’s and family speaking about their thoughts and feelings about her pregnancy.

While Jenner’s social media and outward personality appearance is not what many would categorize as “motherly,” her friends and family both vocalized and expressed how great of a mother Jenner was going to be. According to her close friends and family, having a child had been a dream of Jenner since she was 15-years-old, and now, another one of her dreams was becoming a reality.

The video, along with an Instagram of Stormi embracing Jenner’s finger, were published onto her Instagram on February 4, 2018. The photo of Stormi’s hand grasping Jenner’s finger broke the Internet, quickly becoming the most liked photograph on Instagram.

Stormi Webster graced the Earth on February 1, 2018, as rapper Travis Scott and makeup mogul Kylie Jenner welcomed their first child together.

Rapper Travis Scott and Jenner started dating as soon as Jenner and ex-boyfriend and rapped, Tyga, had broken up. While Jenner’s relationship with ex-boyfriend Tyga was quite tumultuous and dramatic, Jenner and her close circle claim that her relationship with Travis Scott is much different, and as a result, she is much happier.

During the duration of her pregnancy, Jenner managed to stay below the radar, fool the public, and stay out of the public eye, choosing to refocus her energy and focus on preparing for motherhood.

Normally active on all social media platforms, specifically Snapchat, Jenner slowly began scaling back on her Snapchat game. This leave of absence from Snapchat left everyone wondering, “WHAT WAS GOING ON?”

Months of ambiguous Instagrams left us all wondering whether this was a publicity stunt or if she was truly pregnant, as her normally revealing Instagrams were quickly replaced with Instagrams that were far from revealing. Jenner wore baggy clothes that hid her midriff and did everything but hug her body, and these baggy clothes quickly became the statement pieces of her outfits during her pregnancy. This new “baggier” image of Kylie left fans, citizens, and haters more curious as to what was going on with Jenner.

As if this was not enough, Jenner was seemingly absent from The Kardashian-Jenner’s Christmas party and their infamous #DAY25 Christmas card campaign.

The nine-or-so months that Jenner decided to remain out of sight and detoxing from social media was quite impressive to witness, as it seemed that Jenner could NEVER stop publicizing herself on social media. Forget Keeping Up With The Kardashians, I can barely keep up with Kylie.

The makeup mogul and TV & social media personality is only 20-years-old, and has already made a name for herself outside of her family’s name. Kylie Cosmetics has blown up above and beyond what anyone ever expected it to, and her famous Kylie Lip Kit, launched in November 30, 2015, is now worth close to $420 million.

Jenner is the most wealthy and successful of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, surpassing her Kim Kardashian, Kris Kardashian, etc. This is one circumstance where age is relative to success.

While the public is curious how motherhood will be treating Jenner, it seems as though the makeup mogul has finally found some happiness and bliss with Stormi.

On February 10, 2018, Jenner made her first public appearance since giving birth to Stormi, with her best friend Jordyn Woods. The best friends were pictured in Los Angeles getting out of a black SUV.

While we all are praying that Stormi will be in good hands with Jenner and Travis Scott, the public is now waiting for the arrival of sister, Khloé’s, due date, as Kim’s surrogate has already given birth. Khloé is said to be due in November 2018, so the public will just have to wait and see what happens.

Since the birth of Stormi Webster, Jenner has still managed to keep a low profile and keep her social media to a minimum, as it seems that she has truly taken up the role of motherhood.

Who knows what Kylie has in store for us next.

Golden Globes 2018: What To Expect

The 75th annual Golden Globes Awards will be airing tonight on NBC at 8 p.m. Eastern time for all to see. The award show this year will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and will be hosted by Seth Meyers.

Many anticipate that the mood of this year’s Golden Globes Award Show will be a controversial and moody.

Over the course of the last year, Hollywood has been hit with some controversy surrouding the recent spur of sexual misconduct in the industry, as many celebrities have come forward with accussations recently. To say that Hollywood has not taken a hit, or has not been greatly affected by these accussations, is a lie.

Similarly, Hollywood has also taken a hit with racial and gender inequalities, as many A-listers have begun speaking out against these inequalities. Once again, giving Hollywood a run for their money.

With so many issues coming into question in the Hollywood industry, this year’s award show is one that you should not miss out on.

While past Golden Globes’ red carpets have often been filled with glitzy and glamorous outfits, things have changed. This year, we are anticipating the Golden Globes to be draped in all black, as actresses, actors, and activists are wishing to make a statement in the support of these injustices, specifically sexual harrassment, that many women and men have encountered in Hollywood. A handful of actresses and actors, who will be attending the event, have confirmed that they will be wearing black in support of movements, such as #METOO and #TIMESUP. Whether the black dress code will be effective to protest these crimes is still up for question.

Actresses, such as Meryl Streep and Michelle Williams, have already announced that they will be attending the event with activists, including the founder of the #METOO movement.

The big elephant in the room is whether or not Harvey Weinstein’s indiscretions will be addressed. Weinstein, who has often been the focus of the award show and is always seated at the prime table, is now on everyone’s mind, as he has been accussed of sexual harassment by many women, leading to the fall of his previous Hollywood studio, Weinstein Company. Whether or not his faults will be addressed is still up in the air.

With all this commotion clouding the minds of viewers and attendees, no one truly knows what to expect this year, other than Oprah Winfrey winning the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement. Last year’s winner, Meryl Streep, who will also be attending the event, delivered a somewhat aggressive acceptance speech towards Donald Trump, speaking out about the xenophobia and discriminatory actions that exist in our society. Many are curious if Winfrey will deliver a similar speech, addressing these relevant issues in our society.

There is much to look forward to with this year’s Golden Globes, as many are curious as to how this award show will go down.

The only way to find out is to stay tuned and turn on your televisions to NBC at 8 P.M. Eastern time tonight!

The Fourth Thursday Of Every November

Thanksgiving Day, a day that incorporates giving thanks and indulging in large amounts of delicacies, lands on the fourth Thursday of every November. It is significant to Americans specifically because it gives us an excuse to eat massive amounts of food and not feel sorry for it – JUST KIDDING. It’s really a holiday giving us an excuse to kill lots of turkies, eat them, and not feel bad for it – ONCE AGAIN, just kidding. I hate turkey anyways, and would take a honey roasted ham over turkey any day. But, really…who can pass up some good mashed potatoes?

The very first Thanksgiving that was historically recorded occurred in 1621, after December 11, 1620, when the Pilgrims had arrived at Plymouth Rock on the Mayflower. With the help of the Native Americans, the Pilgrims were able to make it through a brutal winter and ended up with a surplus of harvest for them to survive. In celebration of their successful bounty, the Native Americans and Pilgrims celebrated the very first Thanksgiving in 1621. The first Thanksgiving lasted three days, which is AWESOME and I wish this was the case today.  The bountiful feast united the Native Americans and Pilgrims together, and the feast symbolized a “thanksgiving” for their unifying efforts to create such a successful bountiful harvest. Instead of eating cranberries, however, the Pilgrims and Native Americans probably settled for something like corn. Instead of turkey, they also celebrated with five deer.

The next Thanksgiving was celebrated in June 1676, and was celebrated on-and-off until it was sanctioned as a true holiday in 1941, during Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration. Getting Thanksgiving to become a national holiday was much difficult than one imagined, as many people opposed of the idea. Ironically, as Americans and colonists continued to celebrate the holiday, Native Americans were slowly isolated from the holiday festivities, though they are a vital aspect of the emergence of the holiday.

During the years, Thanksgiving was used to celebrate a multitude of different victories or purposes for Americans, but today, the holiday tends to serve a few core purposes for Americans.

Today, the main purpose of Thanksgiving is to unite with others, specifically families, and give thanks for the blessings, hardships, and circumstances of their lives. Thanksgiving is a beautifully unique holiday that allows for a multitude of individuals to come together for a similar cause and celebrate. Similarly, it is a beautiful holiday, as we dedicate a whole day for giving thanks for everything in our life. In addition, it also gives us an opportunity to help those who may not be as fortunate. Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday season of giving and allows individuals to extend themselves to help not only themselves, but others. Though a holiday should not dictate whether one should help the less fortunate, it has become a unified purpose for the holiday, which is something we can communally celebrate. Finally, football has become an enormous part of the Thanksgiving holiday, with the first Thanksgiving football game taking place in the mid-1870s. In fact, Thanksgiving football games are nearly as old of a tradition as the holiday itself. Makes you wonder if there is enough giving thanks and too much football, huh?

To me, the most important aspect of Thanksgiving is the fact that I get to be unified with my loved ones and share food, memories, and happiness. Giving gratitude for one’s life is one universal idea of Thanksgiving that is shared across all religions.

This year, I am grateful for my mental, physical, and emotional health, my growth that I have made over the course of the year, all my friendships, whether they lasted or not, my entire family, who has loved and supported me since birth, my education, my job, and my dedication. I have so much to be thankful for – it is truly hard to put it all into words. In addition, I am extremely grateful for all the hardships I have faced and encountered over the past few years, which have helped shaped the person that I am. Similarly, I am so grateful for the journey of self-discovery and self-love I am currently on. If I could give back the amount of gratitude and blessings that I feel for my life, I would spend days giving back unlimited amounts of happiness, love and gratitude. I wish this was possible!

If you are not in the mood to feast, invest some time into charity, whether you decide to make donations or work at a homeless shelter, assisting in helping others. I can almost gaurantee you that this line of work will be much more gratifying and you will give gratitude for the life you live. Similarly, the people you are helping will show much more gratitude towards you and your services that that will trump even the best mashed potatoes. Or, even better, you could feast and proceed to help others who are less fortunate as you.

Do not forget to give thanks for all your blessings and misfortunes this year! Eat lots of apple and pumpkin pie, but DO NOT FORGET THE MASHED POTATOES!

Let’s kick this giving holiday season on a good note!

Make Plans To Look Forward To

Even when we are caught up in the routines of our daily lives and obligations, it is important for human beings to break our routines and make plans that we can look forward to. Unfortunately, we will not always have the time or the energy to do things that we enjoy 24/7, however, planning and taking time for ourselves to engage in some fun activities help keep us sane.

Constantly working, a lack of funds, a lack of resources, or taking on a full course load may all be factors that may not allow us to do every thing that we constantly wish we were doing. Do not let this stop you from thinking that your life deserves some fun and excitement every once in a while.

Small plans, such as getting drinks at happy hour with your friends, a helpful study session, or grabbing a late-night bite, all play a substantial factor in breaking your daily routines of obligations, such as studying or full-time work. Even making plans months in advance, though it will require some patience, can help you stay motivated and happier living your daily life. Even including a small hike every morning, or taking time out of your day to simply treat yourself to a small shopping trip after work, are all small things you can engage in every once in a while to bring light to your stressful life. Not every plan has to be a huge ordeal, though making travel plans or attending a huge music festival is something that we should all make time for at some point in our lives. The small things count though.

Sometimes, we have no choice but to endure daily routines, but often forget that the small plans or activities we engage in are all important and should be appreciated to the fullest.

Making plans allow us to be excited and to keep things fresh in our lives. And, when we are constantly fufilling our life’s obligations and responsibilities, we can sometimes forget to allow ourselves time to do something fun and exciting.

This month, I challenge you to make some plans and stir up your calendar with fun plans that you can look forward to in your life. Do something for yourself to get yourself excited and motivated! Fun plans can serve as an incentive to work harder and use that to your advantage. Do not let your responsibilities boggle you down and make time with the time that you have! This is very important.

Curiously Curious

When Curious George and Dora the Explorer are your secret spirit animals, do not be ashamed. The power of curiosity is incredibly powerful, and help shape the person we are and the experiences we go through.

Curiosity does have its downfalls, however, it should not be looked upon as frowned upon. In order for us to know and understand the world, it is important to be curious. Being curious can get us in trouble from time to time, when it is utilized as a scenarios where it is not necessary. With that said, sometimes ignorance is bliss. So, setting boundaries with your curiosity is something that should be taken into consideration.

On a positive note, curiosity and a willingness to explore the world we live in is mostly seen as a positive personality trait. This curiousness that everyone experiences to a certain level allows us to do so much.

Curiosity allows for a craving to learn, which is always viewed as positive. This kind of learning goes beyond textbooks and what we learn, and may sometimes push us to want to actually experience what is unknown to us. In some aspects, our curiosity makes us more knowledgeable.

Traveling is one way your curiosity can be utilized positively. Often, individuals find themselves utilizing their curiosity to learn about the cultures of other nations, explore different parts of the regions, leading to a higher level of cultural awareness. It almost is one of the most motivating factors that dictate our decision-making process.

Among many things, curiosity is something that we all universally feel as human beings and makes us all united. What you are curious about is unique to everyone, but how we go about our curiosity is what sets us apart. However, curiosity is motivating and a beautiful thing.

I, myself, am a very curious person. I truly experience curiosity on a daily basis, as I am always trying to learn and experience everything that I can possible. My curiosity has helped me expand my learning beyond what I am taught in school, and has become one of the most motivating traits that I have attained.

Though society does not highlight the importance of the quality of curiosity, it is something that should be celebrated frequently. As it seems, society has undermined curiosity and placed limitations on the idea of curiosity. The reason is yet not quite understood, as we should all be able to explore our curiosity. If it were at all possible, every one in our entire worldwide community would have access and the ability to explore their curiosity. Though society has placed limitations on this quality, do not let it stop you from attempting to fully embrace that side of you.

Being curious shows a willingness to learn and expand your horizons – these are both positive qualities.

Let your curiosity take over your mind.

Squad, Squad, Squad

These days, we are all trying to find a well-rounded group of pals that we can share our time, secrets and money with. This is easier said than done, seeing that not every person you will encounter in your life will have your best interest at heart, which is heartbreaking to say the least.

There is no step-by-step process to find your true genuine friends, so ultimately, it is up to you to find your tribe, or the people that you find click with you. Your tribe should consist of those you can easily trust, as well as those who are willing to push you and be honest with you.

Who you are attracted to and the qualities you are internally searching for within other people is subjective and unique to everyone. Similarly, you will not enjoy every one you will encounter, however, this process of encountering a variety of people will help you identify the qualities and kinds of people you are attracted to. Of course, other elements, such as the environment you grew up in, the people you were around when you grew up, and your experiences will shape your distinctive selection process.

It is not easy to find your squad, to say the least. Sometimes, even the people you think are apart of your squad, may end up not being the people you initially anticipated, making this a heart-breaking and painful process sometimes.

There is no secret to finding your squad, but keeping it real and staying true to who you are and what you believe in are definitely good strategies when you are trying to find your true group of friends. Do not try to change the person or morals that you believe in just to force a friendship, I assure you that this will not lead to a long-lasting, genuine friendship.

A healthy, long-lasting friendship means allowing your friends space to grow and experience, being attentive, being honest, being kind, admitting when you are wrong, and challenging them when you know that they can do better. Also, a healthy relationship consists of stability and consistency, and in order to keep anything, including your car running, you need to upkeep it and make sure you are taking time and care to make sure it does not die out on you. Nothing in your life will ever be perfect, including your friendships, but without any bumps on the road, how do you expect your friendship to grow, mature, and continue blossoming into a stronger bond. With that said, a “forever friend” is willing to stick through even those hard times, when nothing seems to be going your way and you just feel stuck. Despite your bad attitudes, snippy behavior, and sometimes reckless behavior, the members of your squad are willing to set that aside just to spend time with you, take care of you, and continue making memories.

Your tribe does not need to consist of the largest amount of people possible, in fact, a smaller, and tight-knit group is just as desirable. At the end of the day, the number of people you keep in your circle will not matter if you are truly content. The feeling of having a solid support system to be able to lean in trumps all feelings of wanting to have the largest social circle you can possibly acquire. This does not mean that your tribe can not or will not grow, as you continue growing, learning and living. It just means that the void of craving unnecessary attention and acceptance from others will be nonexistence, as you begin to realize that your happiness is simply not based on that.

Always remember that you, yourself are your best friend, and as a result, the company that you keep reflects the kind of person you are. Naturally, I would recommend keeping GREAT company. Ask yourself if you are truly happy with who you are, and who you are surrounding yourself with. Sometimes, as we go through the motions of life, we grow apart or slowly begin to become dissimilar to those who we have kept closely, and that is okay. It just means that you are living and growing, and when we are living and we are growing, we are allowed to grow, change, adapt, and adjust according to what we are currently dealing with and growing from. As a result, as we are growing through the processes of life, it is only natural that not every single individual we spend time with is going to be willing to stick around. Sometimes, this is just because of distance, difficult times, lack of communication or understanding, toxicity, or other simple things. This is something that you should not take personally, as most of the people we encounter will not be permanent placeholds in your life.

The important thing is to take a look around you, and appreciate those who have been supportive and endlessly loving towards you, even those who may not be your “forever” friends. As you continue living, growing, learning, and breathing, you will find your best b****es, and you will love every second of it. Try to exude your true self, engage in activities you enjoy, and value the company that you keep. As you begin your journey to exuding your genuine self and qualities, you will naturally begin attracting, or keeping, those who may share the attractive qualities that you seek in others. Do remember that not everyone in your squad has to be the same, in fact, the differences among each of your closest pals is something that you should cherish. A great squad learns from one another and helps one another grow, learn, and succeed.

If you’re a bird, they’re also birds, if you get what I am saying. Squad, squad, squad.
