Life Hack #32 – Music Often

I know that word on the street is that math is the universal language, but I would care to argue that music is also a universal language.

The greatest part about music is that there is an excess amount of music available for individuals worldwide to access and to enjoy. Similarly, there is always new music being produced and being made available daily for listeners to indulge in.

There is certainly no shortage of music in our world. But, sometimes there just does not seem to be enough.

Music provides a lot for individuals, including providing entertainment, providing noise, providing a coping mechanism, providing distractions, providing an opportunity to create, explore, and enjoy, etc. Music is a universal language in the sense that music is incorporated into cultures everywhere worldwide, as it is a way for individuals of different cultures to express themselves and get in touch with their creative side. Music can also serve as a

Music also has the incredibly powerful ability to unify individuals across the world, which not many things can possibly do. Music has the ability to bring individuals together, especially for those who may share similar taste in music, or for for those who enjoy the same artist, band, DJ, etc. Just by the power of music, people of different cultures, or even oppositional cultures, could find themselves coming together for a unified cause; to enjoy music. The power of music is so incredible that it even is able to unify strangers from across the world, just because individuals may enjoy the same band, artist, or song. That is saying a lot more than many political treaties that have come forth, in the attempts to unify, or attempt to bring peace, into two warring nations.

Another universal aspect of music is that people in cultures every way enjoy music, regardless of the genre. Each culture’s music is influenced by other cultures, their music, etc., so they all sound different and are unique to each culture.

What is incredibly awespiring about music is its’ ability to relate and to speak to individuals. A song, a band, or the beat of a song can have the ability to truly move someone. In fact, a song, an album, a band, etc. can be a source of refuge for those struggling with the hardships of life. It is extremely comforting to find a song that completely describes your current life situation, your mindset, etc. These songs that you can personally relate to, based on experiences, allow you to relate with your emotions with another person. Sometimes, you may find yourself completely misunderstood and find yourself struggling to relate with others around you about the situations you are currently dealing with.
When humans cannot seem to provide you the escape and comfort that you need, you can always count on music.

Music is a powerful force, as a result it has many powerful benefits to listening to it. According to past studies, listening to music that you enjoy that your brain releases dopamine, which has the ability to assist in positively affecting your mood. Music can therefore assist in the regulation of one’s mood, all while creating happiness in one’s daily life.

For those work-out junkies, what is a good workout without some good music running, hiking, or even eliptical-ing, behind you? It is not a work-out that is for sure. Studies have shown that music has the potential to boost aerobic exercise, boost mental and physical stimulation, and increase overall physical performance.

Similarly, music has the ability to decrease stress and decrease anxiety, especially music with a slow-tempo, lo-pitch, and little vocals. Listening to this calm, slow-tempo music has also been found to help those suffering from insomnia. In the study, individuals suffering with insomnia were able to fall asleep with calm, slow-tempo music playing in the background.

I enjoy many types of music. I cannot say that I truly enjoy one single genre of music over the other one, as I enjoy listening to music of all types of genres, sub-genres, and of different influences. It is truly facisnating to explore different cultures music, and it never makes for a boring day. I come across brand new music multiple times every day! Similarly, I listen to a wide variety of music every day. I can listen to anything from classical music to techno music to hip-hop/rap music to electronic music to funk in an entire day, which leaves me not enough memory or storage on my laptop to explore and uncover musical hidden gems.
Growing up, I played classical piano, somewhat competitively, for ten years, which only expanded my passion for music.
All I can say is that I like something with a good beat, or “anything that is good.”

The genre that I dislike has to be country music, as I never was exposed to it growing up and never found myself going crazy for country music. It just happens to not be my glass of wine, or my cup of tea.

Discovering new music has been made much easier and much more accessible for our society, as we have things such as YouTube, Soundcloud, Spotify, etc. that allow you to discover music of all different genres at the tip of your fingers. It is incredible how much new music you can find when you are mindlessly clicking on any of these music discovery platforms. All of a sudden my library of music suddenly expands by 30 songs, just simply by exploring and discovering new music on these various music platforms.

The Evanoff Experience | The Fox | 5.18.2018 | Boulder, Colorado |

It has been a while since a went to a great concert, let along a concert, in which the performers and artists hold a special place in my heart.

I have been trying very hard to do my best to see this band, but every time the time came I always had excuses up my sleeve as to why I was not coming.
The greatest thing about this band that I saw last night was that this band is originally from my hometown Boulder, Colorado. Even cooler fact? I have known him since high school.

It is always important to support local talent everywhere, especially those whom you have known for a significant amount of time. The last Evanoff show I attended was their very first show, in which they headlined the Cervantes Theater in Denver, Colorado. The crowd was significantly smaller than the crowd that they drew only four years later. It was incredible to see how much progress, success, and fans they have gained over the past four years. The difference between the growth in the complexity and the structure of the sets that they played in 2014 versus the set that they played at their most recent show.

This band deserves all the success and support in the world, as they truly are passionate, humble, and incredibly creative individuals. Their set was perfect, incorporating a mix of both high-energy songs with more low tempo songs. It was far from boring and easy to dance to. This band managed to get every single member in the crowd jumping, grooving, and feeling what they were throwing down. The incredible part about this band is their use of their instruments, which makes their music a little more soulful. The incorporation of real musical instruments makes me appreciate a band, or a set much more. It adds another element of creativity and beauty.

The night out at the Fox Theater was extremely exciting, groovy, and full of good vibes. The lights were incredible.

This was one of their shows that I just could not miss out on, as it was their hometown show! I was informed prior to the show that this show was going to be an uber special show, with insane light shows. I had a lot to look forward to!

The opening acts of the Evanoff also were exempleray. Nobide, the first opener artist, is a good friend of mine from high school, who also is another Boulder local native.

The summertime begins my concert season, as concerts become my ultimate source of fun, excitement, and socializing.
My favorite venue in the entire world is Red Rocks Ampitheater. Red Rocks brings me so much happiness and is a place that I consider very close to my heart.

Get out there and support your local talent! Supporting local talent only strengthens your sense of community and allows you to connect with your hometown.

What are your favorite concert venues? What is your most recent concert?

5 Times Hannah Montana’s Songs Taught Me How To Live Life

How many times have you disregarded Hannah Montana as your mentor? I bet you have not internalized the lessons and the messages that her music portrays. Hannah Montana is my mentor and continues to teach me more and more about how I should live my life.

  1. Nobody’s Perfect
    • “Nobody’s perfect, you live and you learn it,” she sings. Hannah Montana nailed it, as we are all obsessed with the idea of being perfect self, based on our own values, beliefs, morals, and expectations. While our idea of perfectionism is relative to each person, we all share the general idea that we want to be the most successful and happy versions of ourselves. However, life does not work like that, otherwise, life would be fairly boring and fairly perfect. If everything and everyone was perfect, what would be have to work for and live for? We need to face adversity in order to live our most fufilling lives. Most situations in our lives will not turn out perfectly, nor will we, as human beings. But, this is okay! She tells us that it is okay for us all to make mistakes, because “everybody makes mistakes.” In addition to all these lessons, she reminds us to be gentle with ourselves, as expecting ourselves to be perfect at all times is irrational.
      • So, “next time you feel like it’s just one of those days, when you just can’t seem to win…if things don’t turn out the way you planned figure something else out…Don’t stay down, try again, yeah!” Talk about motivating! Hannah Montana, or Miley Cyrus, as she is known to most, is right. Figure something else out, do not stay down! The longer you stay down, the harder things will be to fix. Regardless of that, NOBODY IS PERFECT. Challenge our society and accept the imperfections of life, and figure out another way around the obstacle you are facing. If Hannah says that we are not perfect, and that it is okay not to be perfect, because no one else is perfect, IT MUST BE THE TRUTH. Learn it, believe it and live it. WOOOOOOO!
  2. Life’s What You Make It
    • “Life’s what you make it, so let’s make it right – MAKE IT RIGHT!” Hannah Montana chants this throughout the entire song, and the chorus is indeed right, as life is what you make it. Instead of making it left, or making it wrong, or not fun, Hannah Montana encourages us to make the best out of life, as the power is in our hands! Even when a situation is not the way we planned, as individuals, we have the power to make the best out of every situation, if we so please to. If we want to make our life left, or not fun, then we also have the power to do this, as well. As human beings, we control most aspects of our lives, or at least the way we can react to them.
      • “Don’t let no small frustration ever bring you down!
        No, no, no, no
Just take a situation and turn it all around.” Basically, this song is an anthem to teach us that the power of our the reality of own lives are in our own hands. This is a lot of power to turn things around. Do not let the small frustrations, bring you down! Find another way around this obstacle we call life, and keep it positive.
      • “Life’s what you make it, SO LET’S MAKE IT ROCK!!!!” Never forget this!!
  3. The Best Of Both Worlds
    • “You get the best of both worlds…
Chill it out, take it slow, then you rock out the show.
You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together, and you know that it’s the best of both worlds.” While we are not rockstars like Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus, we are made up of multiple components of “self,” within our selves. Crazy, right? This song teaches me to learn to balance having fun and “chillin’ it out, and taking it slow.” It is important to find a happy medium, as we all know that Hannah Montana transforms into Miley when she wants to chill it out and take it slow. We can all experience the best of both worlds, if we can carefully execute our decision making process and prioritize correctly, incorporating our responsibilities and our fun. The best life we live is when we are able to live the best of both worlds within our own world. Maybe, we do not rock it out on stage like Hannah Montana, or see Orlanda Bloom at a movie premiere, but we still do know how to PARTY, or have fun. If you do attend movie premieres and rock out on stage like Hannah Montana, then more power to you – this song probably relates to you very closely. Just like Miley must find a balance within her two lives, we must find a balance within our life, juggling our fun times with our responsibilities.
  4. Rockstar
    • This one is a personal favorite. We’ve all had a crush, who may not pay as much attention to us, even though we all deserve all the attention in the world. Hannah Montana teaches us not to wait around for these fools, who we try to dress up for and look cute for. But, Hannah Montana, once again teaches us that, well…we might just be a rockstar. So, who cares about these losers, am I right?
      • “I’m unsual, not so typical, way too smart to be waiting around. Tai chi practicing, snowboard champion, I could fix flat on your car…I might even be a rockstar.” We all fall for someone, who truly does not know who we are and barely notices, and that is okay. But, Hannah Montana empowers us all by telling us that we are much cooler than these people try to define us as (A.K.A. unnoticeable). What if we were all rockstars like Hannah Montana? We all are rockstars, FOR SURE, but maybe we don’t perform on stage like Hannah does. That is okay – our self worth should not be based on what we think these imbeciles think we are. We are actually much cooler than we are even being acknowledged as!! Hannah Montana achieves the greatest form of empowerment. Do not wait for these loonies to notice you, because you are worth much more than waiting around for them to notice you. Focus your attention on those around you who already think you are just as cool as you are!
  5. The Climb
    • “But, I keep trying, gotta keep my head held high. There’s always going to be another mountain, I’m always going to want to make it move. Always going to be an uphill battle, sometimes I’m gonna have to lose. Ain’t about how fast I get there, ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side. It’s the climb!” This is one of Hannah Montana’s most beautiful pieces, as it MOSTLY puts me to tears. It is quite motivating, as she belts out that no matter what challenges we face, we must keep fighting and keep going. She emphasizes that it does not matter how fast we accomplish our goals, but to keep pushing past our insecurities and the challenges we face, in order to achieve our goals and dreams. In order to get through life, we need a thick skin and need to be able to move past all the challenges we are faced with. Sometimes, we do not always win, even though we may be fighting the good fight. This is okay – you may be knocked down, but do not give up!!
      • “The struggles I’m facing, the chances I’m taking, sometimes might knock me down, but NO, I am not breaking. I may not know it, but these are the moments that I’m gonna remember most, yeah. Just gotta keep going!” She teaches us to “stay strong and keep pushing on,” as life is a tireless battle when you are fighting for your dreams. Keep believing in yourself, no matter if you are winning or losing. The idea of this song is genuinely beautiful and very substantial, as we all need reminders that achieving our dreams and goals is not an easy feat. Whenever you are feeling insecure or unsure about your life, just continue battling – we are all warriors!OK FOR ALL YOU DIE HARD HANNAH MONTANA FANS, I KNOW THE CLIMB IS TECHNICALLY PERFORMED BY MILEY CYRUS. Just know that “The Climb” deserves to be recognized. AND, IT WAS IN THE HANNAH MONTANA – SO SHUSH.

These are some of my all-time favorite Hannah Montana songs that have taught me to live the life I live. I try to enforce all these lessons into my life, in order to live the PHENOMENAL LIFE I LIVE!! WOOOOOOO! Hannah Montana is not underrated, or just for kids. Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus has some important ideas she is trying to spread, so join me on the journey of uncovering all the lessons that her songs depict. Hannah Montana lives on! SHE IS A LEGEND! SHE IS MY MENTOR!!!

Festies W/ My Besties

Music festival season is upon us, with Weekend 1 of Coachella to kickstart the festival season off just right.

This year’s appropriate festival wear includes:

  1. Two-Piece Matching Set Ensembles: Usually the matching set includes both a top and a bottom matching set, usually incorporating a crop-top and a dress, or a skirt. Ways to wear two-piece matching set ensembles include printed two-piece  sets, velvet two-piece sets, bright vibrant color two-piece sets, and basic two-piece sets, to list off a few ways to sport this relevant trend.
Two-pieces are also usually light and airy, allowing you to be able to move, be comfortable, and dance your booty off. This trend is meant to bring elegance and comfort into one trend.
  2. Body Jewelry and Chains – Body chains have taken over the festival seen. You can wear them with just about anything from two-piece matching sets to crop tops, and high waisted shorts. They are a great way to accent your outfit and add an effortless, bohemian chic look to your outfit. You can see them sported at festivals everywhere, year-round.
  3. Sheer – Whether it’s sheer lace or a black sheer top, sheer is in. Sporting sheer tops with elegant or fun bandeaus or bralettes is the move this season. Light layering is a big key to festival attire, as the temperature of your own body and your environment may constantly change around you. It is light and airy, another big theme of this upcoming festival wear.
  4. Overalls – Denim, not denim, black, white, skirt, shorts, whatever! Overalls are in and are one of the biggest ways to make a statement, be fun, and be comfortable. This is much more of a minimalist, casual look, but with all the variety of overalls, there is certainly no shortage of ways to make this look more updated. Adding a belt, sporting it with a cute bralette or crop top is a great way to finish this look off.
  5. Bodysuits – There is an endless supply of bodysuits wherever you shop nowadays.
Whether you want them low-cut, deep-v, high-neck, etc. there’s most certainly a market for this very comfortable, cute trend. Bodysuits are basically the basics of festival attire, as they can be paired with virtually anything, including flowy pants, high-waisted bottoms, skirts, overalls, etc. They come in all varieties, just like plain white t-shirts do. They are timeless, easy to sport, and a definitive “yes” for this season.
  6. Sequins and glitter – These two are always in for festival season. Glitter and sequins allow you to interact with your inner child and channel some fun into your look. Face glitter, glitter roots, face jewelry…these trends are all in this festival season, as they’ve been around for forever. Sequins and glitter are a fun to dress up, or spruce your entire outfit up and can be a complete game changer. Play with glitter and sequins, and of all different colors to achieve a festive look this season.
  7. Fun buns – This season is centered around fun, practical trends that can be worn functionally at a festival, or a concert. Fun buns are always in, in my book. This season they are especially in. You can wear them in a half-up or wear full on two buns, for double the fun. This playful, flirty trend is a great way to make your whole outfit a little more unique, and the best part? Your hair stays out of your face!
  8. Braids – Incorporating french braids or simple braids to your outfit to finish off a look exudes a sporty look, which is in this season. Look out for braided hair, cornrows, fishtails, and french braids this season, as they are making appearances everywhere. Braids are functional, and similar to fun buns, keep your hair out of your face. For a more chic, effortless, sporty look, gravitate towards braids to complete your look.
